Adil Najam<\/a>, Dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,\u00a0was recently interviewed by several news outlets on United States President Donald Trump’s first speech before the United Nations General Assembly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Najam was interviewed for a September 19, 2017 segment on WBUR’s Radio Boston<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled “Let Sovereignty Ring: President Trump Speaks Before The United Nations.<\/a>“<\/span><\/p>\n

Najam was also interviewed for a September 19, 2017 article in\u00a0The Boston Herald<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled “Trump to Explain \u2018America First\u2019 to U.N.<\/a>”<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve seen various styles from President Trump,\u201d said Adil Najam, the dean of the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that this is a reasoned, already written speech and that he sticks to the written words and that he tries to give world leaders a sense that the U.S. is not about to abandon them,\u201d Najam said. \u201cThere\u2019s a sense around the world with this president that they\u2019re no longer sure if the U.S. will continue to play its traditional role of being the global force for stability.\u201d<\/p>\n

Najam said the world will be listening to hear Trump\u2019s explanation of \u201cAmerica first,\u201d as it applies to various hot spots around the globe.<\/p>\n

\u201cIs it \u2018America first\u2019 to the exclusion of the world or to the inclusion?\u201d Najam said. \u201cWith North Korea, if you\u2019re the Japanese prime minister, you\u2019re going to be listening to see if America is still an ally. If something bad happens to us, will they help us? \u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
