Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, spoke as part of a May 3, 2017 panel hosted by the Canning House\u00a0that looked back on the legacy of Fidel Castro. Hare\u00a0was a British diplomat for 30 years served as the British ambassador to Cuba from 2001-04. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The panel brought together experts to\u00a0<span>debate Castro&#8217;s\u00a0domestic, regional and global legacies. Other panelists included\u00a0Antoni Kapcia, Professor of Latin American history at the University of Nottingham and author of\u00a0<em>Cuba In Revolution;\u00a0<\/em>Ken Livingstone<em>, <\/em>British politician and former Mayor of London; and<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Steve Ludlam, Senior Lecturer in Politics at the University of Sheffield, member of the Cuba Research Forum, and author of <em>Reclaiming \u2018Our America\u2019: Radical Social Democracy in Latin America.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Hare also recently\u00a0<span>gave <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2017\/03\/31\/hare-gives-lecture-on-ongoing-changes-in-cuba\/\">a recent lecture as part of\u00a0the Hamilton Hall Lecture Series<\/a> on the ongoing changes to Cuban politics and culture, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2017\/02\/24\/hares-speaks-at-endicott-college-on-u-s-cuba-relations\/\">and at Endicott College<\/a>\u00a0on the future of relations between the United States and Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Ambassador Hare teaches classes at Boston University on Diplomatic Practice, Arms Control, Intercultural Communication and on Cuba in Transition. In Spring 2016 he will offer a new class on Public Diplomacy. His novel, \u201cMoncada \u2013 A Cuban Story\u201d, set in modern Cuba, was published in May 2010.
