Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was recently interviewed for a story exploring whether halving\u00a0carbon emissions each decade could achieve\u00a0nearly net-zero emissions by 2050.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Najam was interviewed for the March 24, 2017 story in the\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\">Christian Science Monitor<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/Science\/2017\/0324\/Could-a-Moore-s-Law-for-carbon-emissions-halt-climate-change?cmpid=push013s\">Could a Moore&#8217;s Law For Carbon Emissions Halt Climate Change?<\/a>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>From the text of the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Adil Najam, dean of the school of global studies at Boston University who was not involved in the paper, agrees with Rockstr\u00f6m that this is a feasible path.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We have the technology, we have the economic framework, we have the reduction in cost of the alternative energies, we have the range of different types of alternative energy, and we have the momentum that can make this happen,&#8221; he says in a phone interview with the Monitor.<\/p>\n<p>But, &#8220;although we have the ability to meet the challenge,&#8221; Dr. Najam says, it now hinges on &#8220;whether we will pick that up and make that happen,&#8221; as individuals and in motivating political will.<\/p>\n<p>This may make limiting global temperature rise to no more than 2 degrees Celsius seem daunting, Najam says.
