Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University<\/a>\u00a0<span>presented their expertise at the International Studies Association (ISA) Annual Conference, held from February 22 &#8211; 25, 2017 in Baltimore, Maryland. The highly-attended annual convention fosters\u00a0rigorous discussion on research and writing on a broad range of topics within the field of international studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In addition to the Pardee School faculty and students attending the conference, Professor of International Relations and Political Science<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/vivien-a-schmidt\/\">Vivien Schmidt<\/a>\u00a0was celebrated at the conference\u00a0by the Society of Women in International Political Economy (SWIPE) for mentoring women. Schmidt will be honored at the joint reception of the International Political Economy (IPE) Section and SWIPE which was held on\u00a0February 24, 2017.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/jeremy-menchik\/\">Jeremy Menchik,<\/a><span> Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School,\u00a0was awarded the Religion and International Relations Book Award by ISA at the conference\u00a0for his book\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cambridge.org\/us\/academic\/subjects\/politics-international-relations\/south-east-asian-government-politics-and-policy\/islam-and-democracy-indonesia-tolerance-without-liberalism?format=HB\">Islam and Democracy in Indonesia: Tolerance Without Liberalism<\/a>.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Pardee School faculty attending and speaking at the ISA conference included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/min-ye\/\">Min Ye<\/a>,\u00a0<span>Associate Professor of International Relations, participated\u00a0in a work group entitled &#8220;South Asia in World Politics.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/john-woodward\/\">John Woodward<\/a>, Professor of the Practice of International Relations, presented on &#8220;The Promise and Performance of Biometrics in Combating Terrorism.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/michael-woldemariam\/\">Michael Woldemariam<\/a>, Assistant Professor of International Relations and Political Science, presented on &#8220;Al\u00a0Shabaab\u00a0in\u00a0Cross-National Perspective:\u00a0Violence\u00a0and\u00a0Terror\u00a0in\u00a0 Kenya\u00a0and\u00a0Ethiopia.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/joseph-wippl\/\">Joseph Wippl<\/a>, Professor of the Practice of International Relations, chaired a panel on &#8220;Counterintelligence and Security.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/vivien-a-schmidt\/\">Vivien Schmidt<\/a>,\u00a0Professor of International Relations and Political Science,<b>\u00a0<\/b>presented on &#8220;Power and Institutional Change in the Euro Crisis.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/cornel-ban\/\">Cornel Ban<\/a>, Assistant Professor of International Relations, presented on &#8220;The Politics of Austerity and Disembedded Recovery in the EU Periphery.&#8221;<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/thomas-berger\/\">Thomas Berger<\/a>, Professor of International Relations,\u00a0was part of a panel on &#8220;Ending the &#8216;Post-War&#8217;?
