Pardee School of Global Studies, was recently interviewed on\u00a0the moral obligation of the President of the United States to\u00a0involve the country in conflicts overseas. Corgan\u00a0discussed the issue from a historical perspective.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Corgan was interviewed for an October 3, 2016 article in the <em><a href=\"www.csmonitor\">Christian Science Monitor<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/USA\/Foreign-Policy\/2016\/1003\/From-Aleppo-to-Rwanda-when-is-a-president-morally-forced-to-act\">From Aleppo to Rwanda, When Is a President Morally Forced to Act?<\/a><\/p>\n<p>From the text of the article:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span>\u201cFor almost 100 years after John Quincy Adams we simply don\u2019t have the competency to intervene, and then when we do \u2013 from Wilson on \u2013 it becomes, \u2018When we can intervene, we will,\u2019 \u201d says Michael Corgan, an associate professor of international relations at Boston University. \u201cIt\u2019s erratic, but consideration of what some would call the \u2018moral aspects\u2019 enter the picture\u201d from there on.\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can read the entire article <a href=\"http:\/\/www.csmonitor.com\/USA\/Foreign-Policy\/2016\/1003\/From-Aleppo-to-Rwanda-when-is-a-president-morally-forced-to-act\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span>Affiliated with Boston University since 1985, Prof. Corgan has also served as Chairman of the Department of Naval Science.
