The\u00a0Global Economic Governance Initiative<\/a>\u00a0(GEGI), a research initiative at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, held its annual retreat on September 26, 2016 to discuss plans for the upcoming year.<\/p>\n

Kevin Gallagher,<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>Professor of Global Development Policy and GEGI Co-Director, introduced William Kring as the new Assistant Director of the initiative and gave an overview of what the initiative accomplished over the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We published three books this year, 11 peer-reviewed journal articles, four working papers and reports — and I should say almost all of our working papers and reports are done in Spanish, Chinese and English,” Gallagher said. “We gave 40 presentations and workshops around the world and 14 seminars at Boston University.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Gallagher highlighted GEGI Co-Director and\u00a0<\/span>Assistant Professor of International Relations Cornel Ban<\/a>‘s newest book,\u00a0<\/span>Ruling Ideas: How Global Neoliberalism Goes Local.<\/em><\/em><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Gallagher also discussed two papers the initiative is working on for the\u00a0United Nations Conference on Trade and Development<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

“We are doing a project with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development\u00a0where they’ve asked us to do two papers — one that looks at alternatives to the International Monetary Fund\u00a0and another paper that looks at Southern-lead, relatively larger development banks that focus on infrastructure to draw lessons for the new BRICS bank.”<\/p>\n

GEGI is hosting\u00a0an\u00a0United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Report Workshop on October 11, 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
