A recent report on the subject in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/2016\/bu-research-benefits-from-first-federal-funding-boost-in-years\/\">BU Today<\/a><\/em>\u00a0acknowledged his role in l<span>obbying for increased federal research funding\u00a0particularly for\u00a0the social sciences. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>The report cites him as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span>&#8230;\u00a0Strom Thacker, a Pardee School of Global Studies professor of international relations and of political science, trekked to D.C. twice in the last two years to urge additional research funding, particularly for social sciences.
