Pardee School of Global Studies<\/a> on Nov. 5. Boston Water is a consortium of scholars and policy practitioners from various Boston area\u00a0universities,\u00a0including academics from MIT, Harvard, Tufts, Suffolk University, University of Connecticut, University of Massachusetts, BU and a number of government and consulting agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The meeting was lead by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/adil-najam\/\">Prof. Adil Najam<\/a>, the Dean of the Pardee School, and<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/engineering.tufts.edu\/cee\/people\/islam\/\">Prof. Shafiqul Islam<\/a><span>\u00a0of Tufts University. This meeting featured opening remarks by guest participant\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.lead.org.pk\/lead\/ourteamDetail.aspx?memberid=15\">Ali Tauqeer Sheikh<\/a>,\u00a0<span>CEO of LEAD-Pakistan and Asia Director of the Climate &amp; Development Knowledge Network, who talked about the nature of water policy challenges in developing countries.\u00a0This was followed by a wide-ranging discussion on how knowledge networks can contribute to responding to these challenges.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In particular, the meeting also focused on the links between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2015\/11\/05\/climate-experts-forecast-gloomy-paris-conference\/\">water and climate change<\/a>. This discussion was framed by opening remarks by Pardee School Dean Adil Najam who introduced\u00a0the following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/2015\/11\/05\/climate-experts-forecast-gloomy-paris-conference\/\">proposition<\/a> for the future: \u201cIn this age of adaptation, water is to adaptation what carbon was to mitigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Boston Water has been meeting over the last two\u00a0years, with meetings rotating between different universities.\u00a0It brings together experts with a shared interest around water and provides an interdisciplinary forum to bring together the Boston-area individuals and institutions \u2013 over 80 water professionals and 15 institutions are represented \u2013 who work within academia, private or public sectors. This invitation-only group meets once a month at one of the host institutions for dinner and a problem-solving discussion.<\/p>\n<p><span>A number of Boston\u00a0University faculty members attended the meeting.
