Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,<\/a> traveled to Asia to discuss Chinese and American politics at universities in China and Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>On June 6, Fewsmith\u00a0gave a talk on &#8220;Fighting Corruption&#8221; at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. This event was followed by two more presentations in China; a\u00a0June 18 talk on &#8220;New Challenges and Possibilities in \u00a0Sino-U.S. Relations&#8221; at\u00a0Shanxi University in Taiyuan, and a\u00a0June 28 talk on &#8220;New Challenges and Possibilities in \u00a0Sino-U.S. Relations&#8221; at the Center for Research and Cooperation on the South China Sea at Nanjing University.<\/p>\n<p>On August 11, Fewsmith was invited to give\u00a0East Asia Institute Distinguished Lecture on &#8220;What Xi Jinping Teaches Us about Chinese Politics&#8221; at the East Asia Institute, National University of Singapore. Fewsmith followed this engagement with a\u00a0talk on &#8220;What Is a Faction&#8221; at the Conference on The Chinese Communist Party in Action, organized by the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eai.nus.edu.sg\/index.htm\"> East Asia Institute of the National University of Singapore.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The East Asian Institute (EAI) was set up in April 1997 as an autonomous research organization under a statute of the National University of Singapore.\u00a0The main mission of EAI is to promote both academic and policy-oriented research on East Asian development, particularly the political, economic and social development of contemporary China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), and China&#8217;s growing economic relations with the region and the world at large.\u00a0The long-term vision of EAI is to develop into the region&#8217;s foremost research institution on East Asian development.<\/p>\n<p><span>Fewsmith travels to China regularly and is active in the Association for Asian Studies and the American Political Science Association.
