Houchang Chehabi,<\/a> Professor of International Relations and History at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,<\/a>\u00a0is currently part of a Berlin residence\u00a0sponsored by the Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation<\/a>. As part of the program, the\u00a0fellows were invited to the residence of the\u00a0President of Germany\u00a0on June 11, 2015, where Prof. Chehabi and other fellows in the Humboldt programs met President\u00a0Joachim Gauck and briefly discussed their work with him.<\/p>\n

The Berlin residence program has also allowed Prof. Chehabi to maintain a busy lecturing program in Europe this summer. On June 1, 2015, he participated in and chaired a session at a workshop on Arab Shia and Shii’sm vs. Wilayat al-Faqih<\/em><\/a> at the Center for Lebanese Studies at St. Antony’s College at Oxford University, England.<\/p>\n

Later on June 4, 2015, he presented a paper at the\u00a0Amsterdam symposium\u00a0“Iran: Transnational Encounters\u00a0and Social History,”<\/em><\/a> organize by the Leiden University Institute for Area Studies. His paper was titled\u00a0“Before Hezbollah: Lebanese-Iranian Ties through the Ages.”\u00a0At the same event, Chehabi celebrated the European launch of his co-edited book\u00a0Iran in the Middle East: Transnational Encounters and Social History,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0from I. B. Tauris Press. The book will be released in the U. S. on\u00a0July 30, 2015.<\/p>\n

While in the Netherlands (June 5-6, 2015), Prof. Chehabi also chaired a session at the 15th annual conference of the\u00a0International Qajar Studies Associatio<\/a>n in Eijsden.<\/p>\n
