Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University<\/a>, said that a plan to delay votes on far-reaching trade partnerships could be a blessing in disguise for the embattled Obama administration.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher made his case in a March 4 op-ed in <em>the American Prospect<\/em> entitled <a href=\"http:\/\/prospect.org\/article\/saving-obama-bad-trade-deal\">&#8220;Saving Obama From a Bad Trade Deal.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the op-ed, Gallagher says:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;These deals would eclipse some of Obama\u2019s very real\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/news\/in-defense-of-obama-20141008\">remarkable achievements<\/a>, including rescuing the country from a depression, passing comprehensive health reform, and taking climate change seriously. The deals would increase corporate power and increase inequality.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;History will be more kind to this President than what a bad dose of Fox News would suggest\u2014unless Obama trades his accomplishments away to a Republican-dominated Congress and the group of private interests that have hijacked U.S. trade policy.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can read <a href=\"http:\/\/prospect.org\/article\/saving-obama-bad-trade-deal\">the entire article here.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gallagher is an associate professor of global development policy at Boston University\u2019s Frederick S.
