Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University<\/a> is proud to announce that the President and Provost of Boston University have approved the promotion to the rank of Full Professor of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/thomas-berger\/\">Thomas Berger<\/a>. Prof. Berger will hold the position of Professor of International Relations in the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences and in its Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the decision, Dean Virginia Sapiro of the College of Arts and Sciences congratulated Prof. Berger on his promotion.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/profile\/adil-najam\/\">Prof. Adil Najam,\u00a0<\/a>Dean of the Pardee School added,\u00a0&#8220;Berger has been a most productive scholar, admired by his peers across the country and\u00a0the world for the quality and intellectual depth of his research; he is a\u00a0conscientious and accomplished teacher;\u00a0and he has been a thoughtful, gracious and wise colleague to all of us.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Berger joined the Department of International Relations in 2001. Previously, he taught for seven years at the Johns Hopkins Department of Political Science in Baltimore. He is the author of\u00a0<em>War, Guilt and World Politics After World War II<\/em>,\u00a0\u00a0<em>Cultures of Antimilitarism: National Security in Germany and Japan<\/em>\u00a0and is co-editor of\u00a0<em>Japan in International Politics: Beyond the Reactive State.<\/em>\u00a0His articles and essays have appeared in numerous edited volumes and journals, including\u00a0<em>International Security<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Review of International Studies<\/em>,\u00a0<em>German Politics<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>World Affairs Quarterly<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Congratulations, Thomas Berger.
