Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University,<\/a> said that diversifying its trade with Latin America is a challenge China will need to face.<\/p>\n<p>The comments came in a Feb. 2 article in <em>China Daily USA<\/em> titled <a href=\"http:\/\/usa.chinadaily.com.cn\/world\/2015-02\/02\/content_19461847.htm?utm_source=social&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=prbuexperts\">&#8220;Diversifying trade challenges China, Latin America: Analysts.&#8221;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the article, Gallagher said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;The majority of trade between Latin America and China has and probably will continue to be focused on commodities, according to Kevin Gallagher, a professor of international relations at Boston University and co-director of the Global Economic Governance Initiative.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCommodities are still what Latin America is all about,\u201d he told China Daily. \u201cHowever, there may be some room to open up that trade a bit more.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>You can read <a href=\"http:\/\/usa.chinadaily.com.cn\/world\/2015-02\/02\/content_19461847.htm?utm_source=social&amp;utm_medium=twitter&amp;utm_campaign=prbuexperts\">the entire article here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gallagher is the coordinator of Boston University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/academics\/faculty\/gdp\/\">Global Development Policy Program<\/a>.\u00a0 He is a faculty fellow at BU\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardeeschool\/academics\/faculty\/pardee\/\">Frederick S. Pardee Center<\/a>\u00a0for the Study of the Longer-Range Future where he leads the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/global-economic-governance-2\/\">Global Economic Governance Initiative<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher is also a research associate at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ase.tufts.edu\/gdae\/policy_research\/globalization.html\">Global Development and Environment Institute<\/a>\u00a0of Tufts University and at the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peri.umass.edu\/\">Political Economy Research Institute<\/a>\u00a0of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.<\/p>\n<p>He has served as a visiting or adjunct professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University; Harvard University\u2019s Kennedy School of Government; El Colegio de Mexico in Mexico;\u00a0 Tsinghua University in China; and the Center for the Study of State and Society in Argentina.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pardee prof.
