Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University as an assistant professor this fall, has been awarded the\u00a0Best Dissertation award of the Migration and Citizenship section of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apsanet.org\">American Political Science Assocaiton<\/a> (APSA). The award was presented at the 2014 meeting of APSA\u2014the largest gathering of academic political scientists\u2014held in Washington, DC, in late August.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Lori defended her dissertation, <em>\u201c<\/em>Unsettling State: Non-citizens, State Power and Citizenship in the United Arab Emirates<em>,\u201d<\/em> last October at the Political Science department of Johns Hopkins University. Her research examines the development of citizenship and migration policies in the United Arab Emirates, where non-citizens make up 96 percent of the labor force.<\/p>\n<p>This semester, her first at the Pardee School, Prof. Lori is teaching <em>Introduction to Middle East Politics<\/em> (CAS IR 300) and <em>Comparative Immigration and Racial Politics<\/em> (CAS IR 500).<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations, <a href=\"\/pardeeschool\/profile\/noora-lori\/\">Dr. Lori<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dr. Noora Lori, who joined the Frederick S.
