An Ethnographic View of the Contemporary Afghan State

  • Starts: 12:00 pm on Thursday, November 10, 2016
Please join us for a presentation by Annika Schmeding and Omar Sharifi as they offer an ethnographic view on the organization and structure of the Afghan state in the post-Taliban era. The 2004 constitution guaranteed individual rights, however the implementation of these rights has caused friction between individual actors and groups, and has exposed the imbalanced structure of the state. This presentation will highlight topics to discuss what is perceived as core versus periphery objectives in contemporary Afghan society. The event is free and open the public. Refreshments will be served.
