A panel discussion of contemporary Chinese literature in translation and its dissemination in the English-speaking world.

SPEAKERS: Mr. Zhi Zhanjun, editor in chief of People’s Literature and author of many books of essays (Love and Regret, Fragmented Times, Nightly Handwritings at the End of th 20th Century); Ms. Li Donghua, vice editor in chief of People’s Literature, author of more than twenty children’s books (Willa’s Sky, Cornflowers Far Away, Glorious Youth); Mr. Xu Zechen, young novelist of several major awards in China, his novels including Jerusalem, The Midnight Gate, Train at Night; Eric Abrahamsen, American translator of many books from Chinese into English, such as ficiton by Su Tong, Bi Feiyu, Sheng Keyi, Xu Zechen, Wang Xiaofang, and others.

Working language is in Chinese with English interpretation.
