Ambassador Heine Participates in Discussion on India’s Influence on Asia Pacific Countries

On May 23, 2023, Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and Interim Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, participated in a webinar organized by The Chilean Pacific Foundation. The webinar examined India’s global influence and the potential opportunities and challenges it presents for Chile and other Asia Pacific countries. The discussion focused on crucial economic and political factors that shape the future relationship between India and the region, with particular emphasis on India’s relationship with Chile. Along with Professor Heine, the panelists included Laveesh Bhandari, President of the Center for Economic and Social Progress of India, and Arvind Panagariya, an economics and political economy professor at Columbia University.

Ambassador Jorge Heine is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He has served as ambassador of Chile to China (2014-2017), to India (2003-2007), and to South Africa (1994-1999), and as a Cabinet Minister in the Chilean Government.
