“Qué Pasa Media” Article Details Najam’s Call for Immediate Climate Action

Qué Pasa Media Network published an article detailing the arguments made in a recent EFE: Verde written by Adil Najam, Dean Emeritus and Professor of International Relations and Earth and Environment at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, on the “Age of Adaptation.”

The article, titled “Adil Najam (Univ. of Boston) points out that the era of adaptation has begun,” outlines Najam’s repeated argument that as the world enters the Age of Adaptation, it must be prepared to face the impacts of climate change. While the global focus on climate change has largely been on mitigation, he argues that adapting to the threats of climate change is urgent, especially for the poorest and most vulnerable countries of the world.

While a loss and damage fund was agreed upon at the recent COP27, Najam points out that there is still no money behind the fund and no direction on who will contribute and how. He concludes by saying leaders should save themselves from long speeches and replace intentions with “immediate action.”
