Najam Discusses President Biden’s Middle East Visit

Adil Najam, Dean Emeritus and Professor of International Relations and Earth and Environment at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, was interviewed by Samaa News TV on President Joe Biden’s recent visit to the Middle East.

In his remarks, Najam highlighted that the visit cannot be easy for Biden in any of the countries he is visiting, both because it has come quite late in his tenure and also because he takes a somewhat awkward message to each country. In trying to argue for reviving a nuclear deal with Iran, Najam notes that Biden will find both Israel and Saudi Arabia less than receptive. He went on to argue that “awkward as the visit will be for Mr. Biden, it is important that he has undertaken it. It is better to have the difficult conversations than not to have them at all.”
