Heine Discusses Changing U.S. Sanctions on Cuba

In an interview with USACH Radio, Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, discusses the Biden administration’s recent announcement to ease some of the sanctions on Cuba.

In his remarks, Heine argues that the change in sanctions is a welcome development and that it may portend a shift in U.S. policy towards Latin America as it coincides with similar announcements on Venezuela. Until now, Heine states that the U.S. strategy towards Latin America has basically followed that of the previous administration, so this announcement is a step towards better bilateral relations between the regions.
