Joshua Shifrinson, Associate Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, was interviewed for a PolitiFact article on the United States’ withdrawal from Afghanistan and the ensuing discussion on the Biden administration’s handling of the situation.
The article, titled “Fact-checking Joe Biden on U.S. credibility as military withdraws from Afghanistan,”
examines President Joe Biden’s claim that no U.S. allies have questioned the country’s credibility in light of the chaos in Afghanistan. Shifrinson was one international relations experts who put the international reaction to U.S. withdrawal into context. He noted that, “some members of foreign governments who are speaking out may be using the moment to push for concessions from the United States in future policy discussions.”
