Heine Comments on Chile-China Diplomatic Relations

On December 15, 2020 Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, appeared on the Chinese Global Television Network (CGTN) to discuss Chilean-Chinese relations. 

The news segment Heine was featured in highlights the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Chile and China. In his remarks, Heine explained China’s role as Chiles top export market, trading partner, and source of foreign investment. He remarked that, back in 1970 when relations were formalized, to speculate on these points would have been laughable.

Ambassador Jorge Heine is a Research Professor at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He has served as ambassador of Chile to China (2014-2017), to India (2003-2007) and to South Africa (1994-1999), and as a Cabinet Minister in the Chilean Government.
