Pardee School Welcomes 2019-21 Dean’s Ambassadors

The Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University welcomed a new class of graduate and undergraduate Dean’s Ambassadors at a lunch reception hosted by Dean Adil Najam on January 29, 2020.

Dean’s Ambassadors are outstanding student citizens and leaders from the Pardee School’s graduate and undergraduate academic programs. They are passionate and knowledgeable about the Pardee School and about Boston University.

At the lunch reception, the Dean’s Ambassadors heard from Pardee School academic leaders including Dean Adil Najam, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs William Grimes and Associate Dean of Studies and Robert Loftis. This was followed by a discussion with the new class of Pardee Dean’s Ambassadors on the goals of the program.

In his remarks, Dean Adil Najam highlighted that the students in the program had been selected because :”you best exemplify the vision and mission of the Pardee School and have demonstrated a passion for it.” He charged the new class of Pardee Dean’s Ambassadors to “make this passion infectious – at the Pardee School, across Boston University, and beyond.” Associate Dean Loftis, himself a career diplomat and former U.S. Ambassador, spoke about what it means to be an ‘Ambassador’ and the responsibility it brings. Associate Dean Grimes added remarks about the history of what is now the Pardee School and the various ways in which earlier generations of students have contributed to its evolution.

Over the next year and half, this new group of Pardee Dean’s Ambassadors will represent the School and the Dean in various ways, including to prospective students, visitors to the School, distinguished guests to the School’s flagship events, and to the larger Boston University community.
