Karra Presents at 2018 Global Food+ Symposium

Mahesh Karra, Assistant Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, gave a February 16, 2018 talk at the Global Food+ Symposium held at Tufts University.

Karra’s talk was entitled “Long Run Effects of Early Childhood Growth Faltering: An Analysis in Low- and Middle-Income Countries,” and focused on results from a study that estimates the associations between exposure to early life growth faltering (child stunting) at the subnational (population) level and adult height and education outcomes.

The 2018 Global Food+ Symposium at Tufts University aims to bring Boston-area researchers together for healthier and more sustainable food systems.  The symposium features talk from leading faculty from the Boston-area on agriculture and environmental change, human health and well-being, and the biophysical foundation of global food systems.

Karra’s academic and research interests are broadly in development economics, health economics, quantitative methods, and applied demography. His research utilizes experimental and non-experimental methods to investigate the relationships between population, health, and economic development in low- and middle-income countries.
