The Pardee Works series at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University continued on November 6, 2017 with a discussion with Lisa Frumin (Pardee ’08), Leadership and Career Coach at The Heart Alchemist.

During her presentation, entitled “Land Your Dream Job Without Applying, Everything You Need to Know about Networking,”  Frumin discussed how to manage the job application process and implement her simple 5-step system to have a powerful networking conversation.

Frumin outlined some of the difficulties that young professionals face when networking or interviewing for the first time as well as how to meet these challenges head on.

“It often can feel very transactional. A lot of people as a result tend to be stuck in their heads, and they can’t be focused on what they actually want out of the conversation which is talking from their heart — being passionate about what it is they really want to be doing,” Frumin said. “All of you are at Boston University because you’re passionate about International Relations so you want to be showing your passion when interviewing or networking instead of speaking from fear.”

The Pardee Works series focuses on bringing professionals currently working in the diverse field of global studies to present for and network with Pardee School students. Recent Pardee Works talks have covered topics including how to apply for positions with the National Security Agency and Central Security Servicecareer opportunities at the CIA and DIA and careers in the Foreign Service.
