Fewsmith Speaks at Suffolk Town Hall on China

Joseph Fewsmith, Professor of International Relations at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, participated in a China Town Hall on October 24, 2017 at Suffolk University.

For the last eleven years the National Committee on United States-China Relations, of which Professor Fewsmith is a member, had held town halls in which Steve Orlins, president of the committee, discusses U.S.-China relations with a prominent policy makers.

On October 24, Orlins talked with Susan Rice, National Security Advisor to President Obama. The conversation was webcast to 66 “town halls” around the country and the world. Local speakers introduce important issues and answer questions following the program. This was the third time Fewsmith has participated in these town halls.

Fewsmith is Professor of International Relations and Political Science at Boston University. He is the author or editor of eight books, including, most recently, The Logic and Limits of Political Reform in China (January 2013). Fewsmith travels to China regularly and is active in the Association for Asian Studies and the American Political Science Association.
