She works on foreign policy, security issues and rising powers with a focus on South and East Asia. She is the author of three books including most recently, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/global.oup.com\/academic\/product\/why-nations-rise-9780197558935?cc=us&#038;lang=en&#038;#\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Why Nations Rise: Narratives and the Path to Great Power<\/a><\/em> (2021). Her work has been published in academic and non-academic outlets including <em>Foreign Affairs<\/em>, <em>Foreign Policy<\/em>, the <em>New York Times<\/em>, and <em>The Diplomat<\/em>. She is also a monthly columnist with <em>The Hindustan Times<\/em>. She joined BU after completing a PhD at Harvard University, and a post-doctoral fellowship at Princeton University.
