Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University has published a new paper (No. 13) in <em>The Pardee Papers<\/em> series.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/publications-library\/pardee-papers-013-land-rush\/\"><em>The Global Land Rush: Implications for Food, Fuel, and the Future of Development<\/em><\/a> was written by 2010 Pardee Summer Graduate Fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/experts\/2010-pardee-center-summer-fellows\/\">Rachel Nalepa<\/a>. The paper explores the political economy of the recent surge in foreign direct investment in agricultural land in developing countries and the short-term and long-term effects this trend may be having on development overall.<\/p>\n<p>A doctoral student in the Geography and Environment Department at Boston University, Nalepa specializes in the political ecology and geopolitics of land investments for agrofuel developments in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p>All Pardee Center publications are available at no cost in PDF format on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/the\\-global\\-economic\\-governance\\-initiative_v2\/publications\/\">publications library page<\/a> of the center\u2019s website.
