Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University,\u00a0discussed his work on human development and poverty \u2013 and on his book \u2018Practical Idealists\u2019 \u2013 during an informal lunch gathering with Pardee Summer Fellows on June 22.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Hammock, who is also the North American Director of the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) shared his experiences of working in development and gave the fellows advice on how to be \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2008\/10\/06\/john-hammock-co-authors-book-for-practical-idealists\/\" target=\"_blank\">Practical Idealists\u201d<\/a> drawing from his book of the same name. Following which, he shared with the Fellows on Multidimensional Poverty Index. He also works with the secretariat of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2008\/05\/21\/pardee-center-to-host-hdca-secretariat\/\" target=\"_blank\">Human Development Capability Association (HDCA)<\/a>, which is housed at the Boston University Pardee Center.<\/p>\n<p>This event was part of a series of informal lunch meetings w<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2010\/06\/01\/summer-fellows-program-begins-today\/\" target=\"_blank\">ith the Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows<\/a> and faculty members sponsored by the Frederick S.
