Paul Webster Hare<\/a>, the former British ambassador to Cuba who currently is a Lecturer in Diplomacy at Boston University\u2019s International Relations Department.<\/p>\n<p>The small group of leading diplomacy scholars and practitioners met to discuss what traditional aspects of diplomacy continue to work well and what aspects need to change to be effective in the 21<sup>st<\/sup> century, when technology provides instant information to and connections among citizens and governments around the globe.<\/p>\n<p>Experts in addition to Amb. Hare who participated in the meeting include <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/fnW8xJ\"><strong>Amb.<\/strong> <strong>Nicholas Burns<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/fMJpeL\">Cathryn Cl\u00fcver<\/a><\/strong> of The\u00a0Future of Diplomacy Project at the Harvard Kennedy School; <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/fwwGpc\"><strong>Amb.<\/strong> <strong>Paul Heinbecker<\/strong><\/a> of Laurier University and the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) in Waterloo, Canada; <strong>Dr. Bruce Jones<\/strong> of New York University and the Brookings Institution; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/dOCckt\">Prof. J.P. Singh<\/a> <\/strong>of Georgetown University; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/f8Wvby\">Prof. Paul Sharp<\/a><\/strong> of the University of Minnesota, Duluth; and <strong>Prof. Robert Zelnick<\/strong> of Boston University. Pardee Center Graduate Fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/ahmet-selim-tekelioglu\/\"><strong>Ahmet Selim Tekelioglu<\/strong><\/a> and Programs Manager <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/staff\/cynthia-barakatt\/\">Cynthia Barakatt also attended<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Following the meeting, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2011\/04\/20\/seminar-diplomacy\/\">public seminar<\/a> moderated by Amb.
