Pardee Center Task Force on Latin America 2060<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future has set up two new Task Forces on ‘Latin America 2060’ and ‘Governance for the Green Economy’ respectively.<\/p>\n

Both projects will convene a meeting of invited experts who will be asked to reflect upon and discuss topics related to the issues. A select group of invited experts from each project will be asked to turn their ideas into short ‘think pieces’ which will be published as a Pardee Center Task Force Reports.<\/p>\n

Pardee Center Task Force on 'Governance for a Green Economy'<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The first Task Force, titled “Rio+ 20: Governance for a Green Economy<\/a><\/em>“, is co-convened by Prof. Adil Najam<\/a> and Prof. Henrik Selin<\/a> in preparation for the forthcoming 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). Invited experts would be asked to reflect upon and discuss the following question: If the world were to construct a truly \u2018Green Economy\u2019 over the next 20 \u2013 40 years, what sort of global governance institutions and mechanisms would be needed to manage it?<\/em> The final published Pardee Center Task Force Report\u00a0 will be presented to the Rio+20 preparatory process as an input into its deliberations.<\/p>\n

The second task force, titled “Latin America 2060<\/a><\/em>“, is co-convened by Prof. Carlos Blanco<\/a> and Prof. David Scott Palmer<\/a>, and seeks to analyze the likely developments in Latin America over the next fifty years and the social, economic, political, and cultural patterns most likely to emerge. For “Latin America 2060”, invited experts would asked to to consider the question: If Latin America, as a region, is to achieve sustained development and full integration over the next 50 years what major changes, new institutions and reforms have to occur? <\/em><\/p>\n
