Gallagher5.jpg\" alt=\"Prof. Kevin Gallagher\" width=\"178\" height=\"238\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment1355\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Prof. Kevin Gallagher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Pardee Center Faculty Research Fellow and Associate Professor of International Relations <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/global\\-economic\\-governance\\-2\/people\/kevin\\-gallagher\/\">Prof. Kevin Gallagher<\/a><\/strong> published a blog post at the <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ft.com\/economistsforum\/2010\/04\/would-the-real-imf-please-stand-up\/\" target=\"_blank\">Financial Times (FT) Economists Forum<\/a> on April 21, titled <em><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.ft.com\/economistsforum\/2010\/04\/would-the-real-imf-please-stand-up\/\">&#8220;Will the Real IMF Please Stand Up?&#8221;<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>In the post, Prof. Gallagher argues that &#8220;clear and consistent proposals toward crisis recovery and prevention are needed at the International Monetary Fund upcoming annual meetings&#8221; but  &#8220;unfortunately, the IMF has been sending mixed messages over the past two months on the subject of capital controls.&#8221; He concludes that &#8220;the IMF should leave ideology aside and ensure that nations have all possible instruments at their disposal to combat and prevent crises.
