Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, recently hosted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/IAmA\/comments\/pymssh\/im_michael_dietze_ecologist_researching_how_to\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">a Reddit AMA<\/a> in which he discussed ecological forecasting and environmental conservation. <\/p>\n<p>As a Pardee Center Faculty Research Fellow from 2018-2021, Dietze led the formation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ecoforecast.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ecological Forecasting Initiative (EFI)<\/a>. EFI is a grassroots consortium aimed at building and supporting an interdisciplinary community of practice around near-term ecological forecasts, an emerging research area focused on accelerating environmental research and making it more relevant to society. In 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2019\/05\/17\/ecological-forecasting-initiative-hosts-2019-conference-in-washington-dc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the Pardee Center co-sponsored the first EFI Conference<\/a> at AAAS headquarters in Washington, DC.
