{"id":3009,"date":"2009-11-09T16:34:13","date_gmt":"2009-11-09T20:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/?p=3009"},"modified":"2009-11-12T02:55:11","modified_gmt":"2009-11-12T06:55:11","slug":"sustainable-development-insights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2009\/11\/09\/sustainable-development-insights\/","title":{"rendered":"SDKP Launches New Publication Series With Pardee Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new series of policy briefs called <em>Sustainable Development Insights<\/em> has been launched by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/esa\/dsd\/dsd_aofw_sdkp\/sdkp_index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainable Development Knowledge Partnership<\/a> in collaboration with the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future. The Pardee Center is one of the partners in this UN initiated public-private knowledge partnership on sustainable development (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2009\/09\/29\/pardee-center-united-nations-sdkp\/\">see here<\/a>). This new series of publications will be edited by Prof. Adil Najam, Director of the Pardee Center, and managed and hosted by the Pardee Center as a contribution to the SDKP.<\/p>\n<p>The first two papers in the series are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/\/sdi-001-reset-sustainable-development\/\"><em>Issue 001: Pushing &#8220;Reset&#8221; on Sustainable Development<\/em><\/a> by Alan Atkisson and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/\/sdi-002-rio-plus-2\/\"><em>Issue 002:Rio + 20: Another World Summit?<\/em> <\/a>by Dr Miquel Munoz and Prof. Adil Najam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/\/sdi-001-reset-sustainable-development\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-3011\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2009\/11\/UNsdkp001sin-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"UNsdkp001sin\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2009\/11\/UNsdkp001sin-231x300.jpg 231w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2009\/11\/UNsdkp001sin.jpg 611w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/\/sdi-002-rio-plus-2\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3012 aligncenter\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2009\/11\/UNsdkp002sin-231x300.jpg\" alt=\"UNsdkp002sin\" width=\"231\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2009\/11\/UNsdkp002sin-231x300.jpg 231w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2009\/11\/UNsdkp002sin.jpg 610w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 231px) 100vw, 231px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The SDKP is a United Nations Public-Private partnership, with the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/esa\/dsd\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">UN Division of Sustainable Development<\/a> as its secretariat, which brings together some of the leading organizations and individuals working on sustainable development for the partnership&#8217;s stated mission: &#8220;To organize the knowledge on sustainable development in order to make it more useful for practitioners and policy makers.&#8221;\u00a0The goal of the partnership is to bring together individuals, institutions, and networks engaged in the production and dissemination of knowledge on sustainable development, including research institutions, universities, expert networks, governmental institutions, civil society organizations, private research entities, and individual researchers working on sustainable development.<\/p>\n<p>The SDKP was established in May 2009 at the meeting of the UN Commission for Sustainable Development (CSD) after the\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/esa\/dsd\/dsd_aofw_scpp\/scpp_egm0509.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Conclave of Though Leaders on Sustainable Development<\/a><\/em>, in which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2009\/05\/12\/pardee-director-and-fellows-at-un-meeting-of-thought-leaders\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Pardee Center also participated<\/a>.
