Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, recently co-authored three related papers exploring fish food webs in systems undergoing rapid change: coral reefs in the Indo-Pacific, small lakes and reservoirs in Brazil, and large lakes in Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.int-res.com\/abstracts\/meps\/v625\/p127-143\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">first paper<\/a>, in collaboration with the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, was published in the journal <em>Marine Ecology Progress Series.<\/em>\u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/esajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1002\/ecs2.2757?campaign=email_articlemetrics&amp;fbclid=IwAR15uDDzOvY2gg7Z2E6A9-qxmQHzavmWRg4zKFUTkF0x-7YCRN_jahU5cJg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second paper<\/a>, a product of work with Conservation International (CI), was published in the journal <em>Ecosphere<\/em>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/fwb.13391?fbclid=IwAR1LstrRh9HC6pNctva_SQfLx2WTrMffhzO_lqFVBU-15reV1ek16EyXvdg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">third paper<\/a>, in collaboration with CI and\u00a0the Inland Fisheries Research and Development Institute in Cambodia, was published in the journal <em>Freshwater Biology<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The papers are part of the Pardee Center&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/coupled-human-and-natural-systems\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Coupled Human and Natural Systems<\/a> research project, which Prof. Kaufman leads with Faculty Research Fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/sucharita-gopal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prof. Suchi Gopal<\/a> and Visiting Research Fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/roel-boumans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Roel Boumans<\/a>. The CHANS project explores how governance, social, and economic systems are intricately connected to natural systems, and investigates the trade-offs that confront those making resource management decisions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Les Kaufman, a Professor in the Department of Biology and a Faculty Research Fellow at the Frederick S.
