Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, recently received a\u00a0Fulbright award for teaching and research for her project titled \u201cGlobal Insights into Sustainable Energy Engineering and Sustainable Solutions for Municipal Solid Waste Management.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Goldfarb&#8217;s\u00a0Fulbright project, for which she will travel to the University of Trento in Italy in spring 2017, will focus on identifying an environmentally friendly and cost-effective strategy for solid waste management in urban areas.<\/p>\n<p>As a Pardee Center Faculty Research Fellow, Prof. Goldfarb is working with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/wendy-heiger-bernays\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prof. Wendy Heiger-Bernays<\/a> (Environmental Health) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/david-glick\/\" target=\"_blank\">Prof. David Glick<\/a> (Political Science) to research global sustainable water access. The interdisciplinary team will develop novel technology for the degradation of microorganisms in water in developing and industrialized urban areas, create a risk assessment model to predict the impact of that technology on human health, and perform surveys and case study research to understand public opinion surrounding water reuse policies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jillian Goldfarb, a research assistant professor in the College of Engineering and a Faculty Research Fellow at the Frederick S.
