\"higher-ed-conf-web\"<\/a>Experts from a variety of disciplines and from around the world will meet at Boston University on October 27 – 28, 2009, to discuss how can we define success and sustainability of a higher education system in the context of a develoing world<\/strong>. They will also focus on what are the key variables and regulators of such a system and how they can develop useful generalizable models that can influence policy makers in governmental and non-governmental organizations in establishing sustainable higher education systems. The follow up of the meeting will be the development of a more comprehensive plan and proposal for development and execution of these quantitative models.<\/p>\n

This meeting is a collaboration of the Boston University Provost’s Office, the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, and the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Boston University and sponsored by the US National Academies, The Keck Foundation, and the Pardee Center. The meeting is supported by a grant from The National Academies Keck Futures Initiative<\/a> and by the Boston University Pardee Center.<\/p>\n

The Workshop will be led by Pardee Center Faculty Fellow Prof. Muhammad Hamid Zaman<\/a>,\u00a0Pardee Center Director Prof. Adil Najam<\/a>, and Boston University Provost David Campbell<\/a>. The group will meet on October 27 at the\u00a0Provost’s Conference Room on the 8th floor of 1 Silber Way, Boston University, Boston (here<\/a>). On October 28 the workshop will convene at Pardee House, 67 Bay State Road, Boston University, Boston (here<\/a>).<\/p>\n
