Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future<\/a>, were quoted last week in national media outlets.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment19586\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment19586\" style=\"width: 403px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"\/pardee\/files\/2014\/07\/Untitled-11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2014\/07\/Untitled-11.jpg\" alt=\"Untitled-1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19586 \" height=\"300\" width=\"393\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment19586\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Profs. Nathan Phillips &amp; Kevin Gallagher<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Prof. Gallagher, who heads Boston University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/global-economic-governance-2\/\">Global Economic Governance Initiative<\/a>, was quoted in a July 18th article in the <em>Washington Post<\/em> titled &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/world\/the_americas\/china-russia-leaders-seek-south-american-inroads\/2014\/07\/18\/9f43808c-0e30-11e4-9c90-0c289b74e142_story.html\">China, Russia leaders seek South American inroads<\/a>&#8220;. In the article, he discusses the changing relationships between countries within Latin America as Chinese investment grows and how this expansion is perceived by policymakers in the U.S..\u00a0 Prof. Gallagher is a well-regarded expert on China-Latin America economic relations, and the convener of the upcoming Pardee Center Task Force Report on capital account liberalization in China.<\/p>\n<p>Prof. Phillips from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/earth\/\">BU&#8217;s Earth &amp; Environment Department<\/a> was quoted in a July 17th article posted on <em>Nature.com<\/em> that discusses <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.nature.com\/news\/2014\/07\/google-maps-methane-leaks.html\">new interactive maps that track methane leaks<\/a> from natural gas pipelines. While he said he doubts that the newly gathered data from Google&#8217;s Street View cars will help utility operators identify specific leaks, Prof. Phillips expressed excitement at being able to compare data on methane emissions across US cities.
