Gallagher<\/a> is quoted in <em>Bloomberg Businessweek&#8217;s <\/em>article, &#8220;IMF Officially Endorses Capital Controls in Reversal.&#8221; Also quoted is\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/multimedia-library\/imf-batista-luncheon\/\">Paulo Nogueira Batista<\/a>, Executive Director for Brazil and eight other Latin American countries at the International Monetary Fund, who was the featured luncheon speaker at a September 2011 meeting of the Pardee Task Force on&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2011\/09\/16\/capital-flows-task-force\/\">Managing Capital Flows for Long-run Development<\/a>.&#8221; In the article, Prof. Gallagher and Mr. Batista both say the new regulations should have broader applications.<\/p>\n<p>The Pardee Task Force Report, <em>Regulating Global Capital Flows for Long-Run Development,<\/em> and other related Pardee publications and events are available at the Task Force On Regulating Global Capital Flows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2012\/03\/02\/task-force-on-regulating-global-capital-flows\/\">page<\/a>.\u00a0 A second Pardee Task Force Report on the compatibility between capital controls and the global trading system will be published early next year.\u00a0 Prof. Gallagher&#8217;s work on this issue is part of the Pardee Center&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/global-economic-governance-2\/\">Global Economic Governance Initiative<\/a>, which he leads.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Faculty Fellow Kevin P.
