Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future at Boston University has released a new Task Force Report titled <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/publications-library\/2012-archive-2\/games-climate-task-force\/\">Games for a New Climate: Experiencing the Complexity of Future Risks.<\/a> <\/em>The report is a collaborative effort of the 12-member Task Force, which was convened\u00a0on behalf of the Pardee Center by Visiting Research Fellow Pablo Suarez in collaboration with\u00a0Red Cross\/Red Crescent Climate Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The report was compiled and edited by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/janot-mendler-de-suarez\/\">Janot Mendler de Suarez<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/pablo-suarez\/\">Pablo Suarez<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.climatecentre.org\/site\/staff\">Carina Bachofen<\/a>, includes contributions from all of the Task Force members, and provides a detailed exploration of the current and potential ways in which games can be used to help a variety of stakeholders \u2013 including subsistence farmers, humanitarian workers, scientists, policymakers, and donors.\u00a0The report discusses how games can\u00a0help stakeholders both understand and experience the difficulty and risks related to decision-making in a complex and uncertain future<\/p>\n<p>The dozen Task Force experts represent academic institutions, humanitarian organization, other non-governmental organizations, and game design firms with backgrounds ranging from climate modeling and anthropology to community-level disaster management and national and global policymaking as well as game design. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/task-force-meeting-and-gaming-session-games-for-a-new-climate\/\">group met at Pardee House<\/a> in March 2012 to begin development of the report and participate in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2012\/03\/29\/pardee-gaming-climat-workshop\/\">day-long gaming session<\/a> organized by Suarez.<\/p>\n<p>An electronic version of the paper can be downloaded from the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/publications-library\/\"> publications library<\/a> on the Pardee web site.
