Based largely on discussions that occurred at an October 2010 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2010\/10\/19\/arts-media-climate-change\/\">symposium<\/a> held at Boston University titled <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/2010\/10\/19\/arts-media-climate-change\/\">Transatlantic Perceptions of Climate Change: The Role of the Arts and Media<\/a>, supported by the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.goethe.de\/ins\/us\/bos\/enindex.htm\">Goethe-Institut Boston<\/a> and the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.kulturwissenschaften.de\/en\/home\/index.html\">Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities Essen (KWI)<\/a>.\u00a0Reflecting on the conversations at that symposium, this paper explores the role that the media and the arts play in shaping whether and how people view climate change as an issue of concern for society.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/miquel-munoz\/\">Miquel Mu\u00f1oz<\/a> is a Post- Doctoral Fellow at the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, where he specializes in climate change, renewable energy and sustainable development.
