{"id":26,"date":"2009-06-24T13:49:08","date_gmt":"2009-06-24T17:49:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/experts\/professors\/amartya-sen\/"},"modified":"2009-07-02T14:30:58","modified_gmt":"2009-07-02T18:30:58","slug":"amartya-sen","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/professors\/amartya-sen\/","title":{"rendered":"Prof. Amartya Sen (2001\u20132002)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nobel laureate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.economics.harvard.edu\/faculty\/sen\">Amartya Sen<\/a> is Lamont University Professor at Harvard University and was until recently the Master of Trinity College, Cambridge.\u00a0 He was formerly Honorary President of OXFAM and is now its Honorary Advisor.\u00a0 He is a Fellow of the British Academy, Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of the American Philosophical Society.\u00a0 His interdisciplinary research includes: welfare economics, public health, gender studies, philosophy, and the economics of peace and war. \u00a0Among the awards he has received are the &#8220;Bharat Ratna&#8221; (the highest honour awarded by the President of India), the Senator Giovanni Agnelli International Prize in Ethics, the Alan Shawn Feinstein World Hunger Award, the Edinburgh Medal, the Brazilian Ordem do Merito Cientifico (Gr\u00e3-Cruz), the Presidency of the Italian Republic Medal, the Eisenhower Medal, Honorary Companion of Honour (U.K.), The George C.
