Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future are collaborating on a future-oriented, interdisciplinary, and structured research initiative to explore the moral dimensions of climate action and the possible role of faith-based values in encouraging positive environmental and climate behaviors \u2013 particularly in the context of Islam and Muslim societies.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2020\/08\/AEH_homepage_text.jpg\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22833\" height=\"65\" width=\"65\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/the-arctic-environmental-humanities-workshop-series\/\">The Arctic Environmental Humanities Workshop Series<\/a><br \/>\nThis workshop series is a collaboration with the Scott Polar Research Institute at the University of Cambridge, bringing together the diverse expertise of humanistic scholars, artists, and researchers for a series of virtual presentations and conversations about Arctic issues. <\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2015\/09\/CHANSphoto2.jpg\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22824\" height=\"65\" width=\"65\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2015\/09\/CHANSphoto2.jpg 1242w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2015\/09\/CHANSphoto2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2015\/09\/CHANSphoto2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2015\/09\/CHANSphoto2-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2015\/09\/CHANSphoto2-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 65px) 100vw, 65px\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/coupled-human-and-natural-systems\/\">The Coupled Human and Natural Systems Program<\/a><br \/>\nThis study of coupled human and natural systems (CHANS) looks at the dynamic interactions between people and natural systems and seeks to highlight the implications of important trade-offs that policymakers face when making decisions related to natural resource management and development.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2021\/02\/RPIprofile.jpg\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-22833\" height=\"65\" width=\"65\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/rpi\/\">The Rising Powers Initiative<\/a><br \/>\nThe mission of the Rising Powers Initiative (RPI) is to understand why rising powers flourish or fail in terms of security, governance, and health, and to understand the impact they have on the international orders of their time. RPI conducts interdisciplinary and policy-relevant research on five emerging powers with increasing global impact: China, India, Brazil, the European Union\/Germany, and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2021\/08\/ihiabout-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"65\" height=\"65\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-32234\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2021\/08\/ihiabout-150x150.jpeg 150w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2021\/08\/ihiabout-100x100.jpeg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 65px) 100vw, 65px\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/international-history-institute\/\">International History Institute<\/a><br \/>\nEstablished as a Pardee Center research initiative in 2021, the International History Institute (IHI) was founded within Boston University\u2019s College of Arts &#038; Sciences (CAS) in 1999 to promote the importance of history in understanding international cultural, economic, political, and military affairs. IHI has been interdisciplinary since its founding, advocating a broad approach that welcomes all scholars who seek to understand the present and future as rooted in an appreciation of the abiding influence of the past. <\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/files\/2020\/10\/WorldAfterCoronavirus_homepage.jpg\" alt=\"fellows\" height=\"65\" width=\"65\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/research\/worldaftercorona\/\">The World After Coronavirus<\/a><br \/>\nThis video series features more than 100 interviews with leading experts and practitioners from BU and across the world, exploring the challenges and opportunities we will face in our post-coronavirus future.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2017\/11\/2017SFthumb.jpg\" alt=\"fellows\" height=\"65\" width=\"65\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/graduate-summer-fellows\/\">Graduate Summer Fellows Program<\/a><br \/>\nThe Pardee Graduate Summer Fellows Program provides outstanding master\u2019s and doctoral students from across Boston University an opportunity for intensive interdisciplinary research and writing on topics that are aligned with the future-focused research interests of the Center. During the 10-week program, Fellows conduct independent research and produce a substantive research paper that may be considered for publication by the Pardee Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"\/pardee\/files\/2021\/02\/FRFs2021.jpg\" alt=\"fellows\" height=\"65\" width=\"65\" \/><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/pardee\/community\/pardee-fellows\/\">Faculty Research Fellows Program<\/a><br \/>\nFaculty Research Fellows lead two- or three-year interdisciplinary research projects that are aligned with the Center\u2019s mission and interests in topics related to improvements in the human condition over the long-term.
