Institutional Risk of Climate Policy and Adaptation Investments
Former post-doctoral associate Irene Monasterolo developed new methodologies for assessing the financial risk of stranded assets (e.g. shuttered fossil fuel plants) due to aggressive climate policy, and for assessing the financial risk of climate adaptation investments by development banks. She continued to work with Center Director Anthony Janetos on exploring both how to characterize these risks, and on understanding whether they are of sufficient magnitude to influence changes in policy.
In June 2019, the Pardee Center and the Global Development Policy Center co-hosted a seminar titled “A Climate Risk Assessment of Sovereign Bonds’ Portfolio,” at which Monasterolo presented this research.
