Visiting Research Fellow Pablo Suarez Joins University of Cambridge Centre for the Study of Existential Risk

Pablo Suarez, a Visiting Research Fellow at the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, recently joined the University of Cambridge Centre for the Study of Existential Risk (CSER), as a visiting researcher and senior policy fellow.

In this capacity, Suarez co-designed and facilitated two recent workshops at CSER. The first workshop brought together a group of interdisciplinary researchers, humanitarians, and disaster risk management practitioners to explore the latest understanding of the risks posed by volcanic eruptions and to identify ways to improve our resilience through better preparedness. The second workshop convened a group of professional humorists, game designers, and other talented creators to explore ways for researchers, humanitarian workers, artists, and designers to help confront evolving hazards.

Suarez’s work on games and problem-solving builds on a 2012 Pardee Center Report titledĀ Games for a New Climate: Experiencing the Complexity of Future Risks, which was the result of a 12-member Task Force convened by the Pardee Center in collaboration with theĀ Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre.
