UNCTAD 2019 Trade and Development Report Launched at Event Co-Sponsored by Pardee Center

On October 22, the Global Development Policy (GDP) Center and the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future hosted the launch of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) 2019 Trade and Development Report. The event featured Richard Kozul-Wright, Director of the Globalization and Development Strategies Division at UNCTAD, who gave a presentation launching the report.

The report, the third in a series exploring trade and development, calls for a broad set of expansionary policies to scale up resources and public sector investment in order to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. The report prescribes a Global Green New Deal and deep reforms to the international trade, financial, and monetary system, laying out, in the words of UNCTAD Secretary-General Mukhisa Kituyi, “a financial future very different from the recent past.”
