We are committed to designing a successful model for patient-centered, interprofessional education and practice. We promote the qualities of professionalism, leadership, and service in our students.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Students who successfully complete all academic\u00a0requirements and come to embody the mission above will be conferred a\u00a0<span>Masters of Science degree at the conclusion of the program.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Program Goals<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The goals of the PA Program are to:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<li>Provide the didactic and clinical experiences that cultivate the development of competent entry level physician assistants.<\/li>\n<li>Support an environment of professionalism with the Program and the broader medical community.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare students to care for all patients, with a focus on those from marginalized and medically under-served communities.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare students to practice medicine as an ethical member of a patient-centered, inter-disciplinary health care team.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Program periodically evaluates where we are in meeting our goals. Our current progress is available in the <a href=\"\/paprogram\/files\/2024\/12\/2024-BU-PA-Goals-Report.pdf\">2024 Boston University PA Program Goals Report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><em>**This report contains data from our most recent graduated class. Due to changes to the curriculum, the Boston University PA Program did not have a graduated class of 2025. This report will be updated with data from our class of 2026 once it becomes available.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Program Accreditation<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc. (ARC-PA) has granted <strong>Accreditation-Continued<\/strong> status to the <strong>Boston University Chobanian &amp; Avedisian School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program<\/strong> sponsored by <strong>Boston University Chobanian &amp; Avedisian School of Medicine<\/strong>. Accreditation-Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with the ARC-PA <em>Standards<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Accreditation remains in effect until the program closes or withdraws from the accreditation process or until accreditation is withdrawn for failure to comply with the <em>Standards<\/em>. The approximate date for the next validation review of the program by the ARC-PA will be <strong>September 2028<\/strong>. The review date is contingent upon continued compliance with the Accreditation <em>Standards<\/em> and ARC-PA policy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The program\u2019s accreditation history can be viewed on the ARC-PA website at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arc-pa.org\/accreditation-history-boston-university\/\">http:\/\/www.arc-pa.org\/accreditation-history-boston-university\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Program Competencies<\/h2>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Medical Knowledge<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span> <\/span><span>Understand the epidemiology, anatomy, pathophysiology, and prognosis of disease processes. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> <\/span><span>Elicit a detailed and accurate patient history, taking into consideration the influence of culture, ethnicity, age, educational and socio-economical backgrounds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> <\/span><span>Perform\u00a0the\u00a0appropriate\u00a0physical\u00a0examination\u00a0on\u00a0patients\u00a0of\u00a0all\u00a0ages recognizing normal and abnormal findings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> <\/span><span>Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests including common laboratory, imaging, interventional, and therapeutic procedures as indicated by history and physical examination. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span> <\/span><span>Organize information from the interview, diagnostic testing and physical examination to formulate a differential diagnosis and assessment for patients. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Interpersonal and Communication Skills<\/h4><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span>Document clinical information in an accurate and concise manner. <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Effectively communicate\u00a0pertinent patient data in\u00a0oral\u00a0and\u00a0written\u00a0forms <\/span><span>to supervising or\u00a0<\/span>referring\u00a0physicians\u00a0and\u00a0other\u00a0members of the health care\u00a0team.<\/li>\n<li><span>Interact with patients and their families with respect, trust, and cultural sensitivity.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>Develop a professional relationship, showing respect for the supervising physician and other members of the health care\u00a0team.<\/span>\n<ol><\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h4 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Patient Care - In the class of 2023, one students decelerated, returned in the class of 2024, and graduated successfully in 2024.
