The educational philosophy of the PA Program emphasizes the practice of evidence-based, patient-centered care within an interprofessional team. Our integrated curriculum focuses on epidemiology, pathophysiology and treatment of medical and psychological conditions, as well as wellness and disease prevention.\u00a0 We have developed an innovative training model that provides opportunities for team-based learning and practice with a wide variety of healthcare students and providers. The competencies of the BU PA graduate (Program Goals)<\/a> and the educational objectives of the program are derived from the accreditation Standards<\/i><\/a> of the ARC-PA, the Competencies of the Physician Assistant Profession<\/i>, <\/i><\/a>and our clinical practice experiences.<\/p>\n Our Program fosters independent student learning, ethical conduct, educational responsibility and professionalism. The faculty of the PA Program and of the BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine are devoted to cultivating lifelong learning skills in their students.<\/p>\n The Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine PA program is a 114.5 credit-hour professional degree program that spans over the course of 34 months including breaks.\u00a0 The program is divided in to two academic phases: Didactic<\/a> and Clinical<\/a>.\u00a0 The didactic phase, which begins in August of each year is 21 months in length and is divided in to five semesters. \u00a0The clinical phase is 13 months in length, and is comprised of 11 clinical clerkships (9 required, 2 elective) and time dedicated to thesis preparation.<\/span><\/p>\n Consistent with BU financial aid policies, all PA students must successfully complete their degree requirements within 42 months of matriculation in order to be eligible for their diploma.\u00a0 All students are required to complete the entire program on a full time basis, in sequential fashion.<\/p>\n The official graduation date for Boston University is May 25.\u00a0 This is the date that appears on diplomas for PA Program students, and complete official transcripts will not be available until after May 25.<\/p>\n In order to reflect that educational milestones have been met by the students, our first time pass rates for the PANCE exam using the official NCCPA score report<\/a><\/em> is published as the scores become available.<\/p>\nCurriculum Overview<\/a><\/h2>\n
