Why did you decide to attend BU?
I have always wanted to go to BU, my mom completed her masters at BU and my brother also attended. BU was my top choice not only for that reason but because I loved the campus and the culture also seemed to fit me. I loved that the campus was in the city and near Fenway, I also liked that event though people would consider it an open campus it really doesn’t feel like it. To me I feel like I am walking on a closed campus where whenever I walk by someone on the street I can almost guarantee that they are also a student. The dorms are also another factor as to why I chose BU. The dorms here are amazing, I had the chance to live in West Campus my freshman year in the dorm connected to the dining hall which was great in the winter. I have lived near Boston all my life so there was also a sense of comfort in the idea of attending because I would be close to home.
What is your favorite course? Why?
I am currently in the School of Hospitality and in my bias opinion I think that you get to take the most interesting courses. I remember my sophomore year I took a cooking class which was required and I learned so many things. I had never been a great cook and through this class it gave me a different understanding about cooking and made me want to become better at it. My professor was also a chef at the Union Oyster House in Boston and had so much experience so it was cool hearing his stories as well. After the course was over I was able to keep the cook book that I still use to this day!
What is your dream job? Why?
I have two dream jobs because I still haven’t decided on what I want to do. One of those would be a wedding planner and the other is to work in the events department of a sporting arena. I have always wanted to work with events and I love both weddings and sports so it is hard for me to decide between the two. The School of Hospitality has given me the opportunity to take courses that focus in events so I am able to get an idea of what it would be and it has been amazing!
