All full-time, undergraduate students attending Boston University starting in the fall 2020 or spring 2021 semesters are able to access a link off of this page that will bring them to their Orientation registration form. Again, Boston University expects all new students to attend an Orientation, in its entirety, prior to their first class. The deadline for registering for Orientation is May 31, 2020.
All Orientation reservations are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register as soon as possible. In order to be eligible for Orientation, new students must complete the following steps:
Step 1: Submit your Enrollment Deposit Payment
Paying your deposit reflects an initial commitment to Boston University. Once your deposit payment has been submitted, it usually takes 3–5 days for the payment to actually process and become reflected in all of the University systems. Take advantage of this processing period to complete the next step!
Step 2: Review the Orientation Website
Be sure to review all of the information on the Orientation website prior to attempting to register for a session! The information on our site should help you understand our expectations for attendees. If you are unclear on anything you read, be sure to contact us before you register. We are happy to assist you with any questions/concerns.
Step 3: Wait for the Email Invitation
Once your enrollment deposit has processed, you will receive an email with the subject “Important Next Steps: Set up your BU Account”. This email invites you to set up your BU email and sign up for an Orientation session. Do not lose this email! It contains a link that is unique to you. This link will begin the process of creating your permanent “@bu.edu” email address.
Step 4: Create your BU Email
You must activate your Early Access account and then confirm you have read the Boston University Google Apps Acceptable Use and Data Security agreement. This will then give you access to BU Google Apps including BU Google Mail to access your University email account, which will be the primary method BU will use to communicate with you going forward. Step 5: Register for an Orientation Session
Using your new BU email account and Kerberos password, you can now log in and complete the online Orientation registration form. Registrations are not considered complete until they have been submitted, so don’t forget to click the Submit button once you have completed your form. Once your form has been submitted, you won’t be able to make changes to your registration on your own.
Read the instructions carefully so you don’t accidentally add unwanted costs. And it’s best to confirm with parents or family members whether they’ll attend the Parents & Families Orientation before you add them to your registration because that program comes at additional cost.
Step 6: Select your Reflection Question
We are in these extraordinary circumstances where we have time to reassess and gain a better understanding of what motivates us and brings us joy. These moments help us gain a better understanding of who we are and what we want for the future. The Reflection Questions start the journey to clarify who we are. Select your favorite question in the Sharing Moments/green section. You will be grouped with other new students during your Orientation session who are willing to share their answers with others. This group of strangers will be your Orientation group.
